Why every diver should aspire to become a Divemaster
Becoming a Divemaster is a dream of many scuba divers. It does sound pretty cool: being a master in diving! But what does a Divemaster
Scuba diving in the Philippines is amazing. Explore it from our PADI 5* CDC Dive Resort!
Liquid Dive Resort is a small boutique resort located on a secluded beach front in Dauin, home to some of the best diving in the Philippines. Established in 2011, Liquid Resort has evolved over the years. We have continuously expanded and improved our facilities, yet the one thing that remains constant is our staff. The heart and soul of Liquid. Our local team will welcome you with Filipino hospitality. You will arrive as a guest and leave as a friend.
The ocean has been our passion since the day we opened our doors. Our PADI 5* CDC dive center has won numerous PADI and PADI AWARE awards and has been a Green Fins member since 2019. Our in-house Institute for Marine Research (IMR), works closely with the local government and our local community to protect our corner of the Coral Triangle. Together we strive to be leaders in sustainable diving and resort practices in the Philippines.
Located only 20 minutes from Dumaguete city, Liquid is well equipped to cater for experienced divers, couples looking for a quiet retreat and families wanting a relaxing beach holiday. Whether you desire to take a course at our PADI 5* CDC dive center, read a book by one of our swimming pools, join a fitness class at our spacious gym, watch the sun rise on the beach front, utilize our co-work space, play a game of billiards, hike to waterfalls or indulge in a relaxing massage you will find the perfect place here at Liquid.
The Philippines lies in the Coral Triangle which is home to over 600 different reef-building coral species, creating one of the most diverse ocean environments on the planet.
Dauin coast has made a name for itself as one of the premier muck diving destinations in Asia. With over 30 different dive sites offering a wide array of critters, this area offers a little bit of everything for all levels of divers, whether you are beginner or professional photographer you will find be amazed by the diversity of the Dauin coast.
Liquid's house reef 'Mainit', is the best drift dive in Dauin, where you can encounter schools of barracuda, turtles, blue spotted rays, morays, healthy coral outcrops and schools of tropical fish. One of its most unique features is the natural hot spring that can be found towards the end of your dive. This unique experience is must dive for all our guests.
Only a short boat ride from Liquid is Apo Island, famous for being one of the first official Marina Protected Areas (MPA) in the country. Apo offers stunning coral reefs, abundant marine life, great walls and turtles on most dives. We recommend you join us on a 3 dive day trip, at least once during your stay
Liquid is an eco-friendly resort with ongoing environmental initiatives, we strive to be environmentally conscious both above and below the waves. For many years we have been a plastic free resort, we conduct dive site and beach clean-ups on a regular basis and our retail outlet only sells locally sourced and produced products.

DIVING:
Coastal dive is quite nice with turtles, octopus and fat nudi branch. My friends also took the NITROX lesson there. Very reliable dive guides and dive instructors, everything is well organised.
Most importantly saw many many sharks! And Manta Ray too! Feel super lucky!
LIVING:
Standard room is not very large but quite enough, with a nice terrace in front and 1 min walking from the sea. Could enjoy the wind and bright stars at night. Like the pool and enjoyed swimming there. They also have billiard, but didn’t play it, needs more rest after diving.
EATING:
Like the PIZZA, fried rice, and salads, quite tasty. However we were not used to the fried food there, they were using a special oil that has an unfavorable smell for us. Beer is nice too. Also took a trip to city center to eat more seafood! There is a restaurant recommended about 15min walk away, still think it’s too far to go haha.
Very nice experience and quite recommended! More read less

I was there for four days doing some really cool muck diving. I didn’t get to go to Apo, but the muck diving was more than enough for me. There was barely a dive where I didn’t see frogfishes and seahorses. Knowledgeable guides with eagle eyes! A must go place if you want to dive in the Philippines! read less

A week after booking an offers was posted on the website, we asked about if we were eligible for the offer but wernt as we booked outside of promotion time, a good will gesture of wine and T-shirt was given though. If you are wanting to go out of season possibly wait closer the time to book so you can take advantage of the offers they may do.
The resort is 500m down a dirt track off the main road, you can get a tricycle from the resort to Robinsons mall for 350pesos or you can go to the main road and get a public tricycle for 20peso per person, we also bargained a private tricyle from the main road.
Resort has 2 pools which we didn’t use, looks like 1 for dive training and another recreational pool.
Grounds are kept clean and well manicured.
24 hour security to the resort.
Diving – Dauin is renowned for muck diving so dont expect many coral dives. The muck dives have plenty to see with a good variety on each dive, including a few wreck vehicles.. the house reef was a nice coral drift dive with plenty to see to.
My guide, Jun, was fantastic, very good at seeing tiny critters, tried hard to find what I wanted to see, very helpfull setting up equipment, friendly and funny to. He has been diving a while but still has the diving passion and still enjoys every dive!
The equipment used is still in OK condition, I only used the reg and BCD but had no problems with them.
Most dives are close by so transport is usually in a jeepny, the odd close dive like san migel or mainit are in a small transport boat.
The Apo island dive there was problems with the boat they hired, battery problems ment we were waiting about 40mins before we set off to Apo and was also an hour late comming back as the battery discharged again on the last dive, hopefully they use a different boat in the future or make sure all boats carry a spare in future.
Lodges – If you want a lodge with a sea view you need to choose 1,7,8 or 15. We were stayed in number 11 and i wouldnt reccomended this one. It backs onto the restaurant/bar so think it might be noisy during high season also your privacy is non existent here, the walk ways to the bar and restaurant split off here so a lot of human traffic passes you.
Room was clean, shower hot and bed was comfy.
A mini bar, laundry service, hair dryer and shampoo are all available in the rooms. A small TV also provided if you want a relaxing evening after a busy dive day.
I do like a safe in rooms but unfortunately there are none in rooms here.
Food/drinks – Food is very good here. The food was well prepared, tasty and a decent portion size. There is a good variety on offer with a very good selection that caters for vegetarians. Drinks also have a good selection from smoothies to flavoured beers and also the popular happy hour 2for1 cocktails that run from 16:30-18:30.
We stayed for 8 days and can give you a rough gide of price for your budget.
AC Room- 32000peso or $600
BCD and regulator hire, 9 dives at dauin, an apo day dive all with nitrox, your sanctuary charges and your underwater camera charges – 26500peso or $500
All our food and drinks 14000peso or $270
As you can see its great value!!
All staff were friendly enough but a special tanks(excuse the pun) goes to Jun, Rhanda and Adrian who excelled in customer engagement and made the whole experience a lot more fun!!
Overall liquid is a very nice place for you to use for your stay in Dauin! read less

Email after email sent to dive centres in the area and within minutes, Tom from Liquid Dumaguete replied. To the point, no B.S answers to my initial questions. Second round of questions in regards to dives, dive locations and the like produced the same standard of: to the point, no B.S answers. Finally the cost: no messing around, to the point, no B.S answers. Not a Peso more was charged to me. I had two days of diving with a Dive Master called 'Ian' but he goes under many other names for some reason. Anyway, Ian as I knew him is a great guy, my type of Dive Master, not pushy, identifies those who need him to assist and lets the others do their own thing but keeps a close eye on both. Ian has eyes like a hawk and uses them to point out the smallest of macro but also understands who is interested in what so tailors his attention accordingly. For an old sea frog like me, Ian could not have been better: there if I need him, there if I don't but discretely and not glued to my fins. One small constructive comment: They really need some better and bigger thermos for coffee as it ran out or was p155 warm

We heard that there were beach side resorts there. A good advice is to travel with a local. It can be easy to get lost.
When we came upon the resort, to be honest it didn’t look like much. So we wanted to check the rooms out first as well as the dining menu.
We entered within the walls of the property. It was as if we were transported to a tropical paradise. These words cannot do it justice. It was so beautiful.
The rooms were all single dwellings made of bamboo. But it had airconditioning. As soon as I saw the room, I said "sold!".
The dining experience is casual. The food was native cooking. It tasted good. I am an American and advise to get more than one dish is you’re hungry. The portions in the Philippines tend to be on the small side. More read less

I feel this needs to be bunched together as not all fins require boots. Open heel vs closed heel fins Personally I prefer to have
