So we have finally finished building – it took only 6 months from start to finish and we are quite happy with what we have accomplished. Let us explain what we have here at Liquid. Firstly we are a dive resort, this does not mean we are exclusive to divers, but it does mean in high season we prioritize our rooms for divers. We have an in house PADI dive shop which caters to both courses and fun divers, however I will not dwell on that here as you can read all about that on the ‘Dive with us’ page.
The Lodge is the heart of Liquid and has the dive shop, restaurant, bar, chill out and reception in it. The Lodge itself is two floors, the second floor is a very large open plan that houses the bar, chill out and restaurant. The upstairs balcony over looks the swimming pool, garden and rooms. But enough of that lets talk cottages:)
We designed our cottages with ourselves in mind. In other words the modern traveler or ‘flashpacker’ if you like that term. Whenever we travel now and lets not forget both of us once classified ourselves as backpackers, we now look for something a little bit nicer than the typical backpacker hut. We want our bathroom, a room with a view is always nice, a little bit of space and not for a huge price tag. So that is what we decided to build.
We have 8 beach front cottages all native in design yet modern in functionality. Each cottage has a large sea facing balcony and we guarantee each room a sea view, with no need to contort your body into any unnatural positions. The large balconies have either two armchairs or a bench with a table so you can sit, relax and enjoy the view. Inside, the cottages are spacious enough to unpack your bags and spread out. Each cottage has a ceiling fan basic furniture and the best bit, a en-suite bathroom with natural hot water, thanks to the fact that we built on a hot spring!
The cottages themselves are set in a cluster formation that we lovingly refer to as the ‘cul-de-sac’ which surrounds a nice garden. We designed the rooms this way to help our guests socialize with each other. You can still have your private moments, but as old time backpackers we like the thought of meeting and chatting with your neighbor!
We have kept the price of the rooms as low as possible and at only Php1200/night for 2 persons we think we have done a good job. We also had a crazy idea and decided for the next 9months to have no price increase on the rooms! We know there is nothing else within this budget range down here in Dauin, as most places are mid to high end. The only real option for budget is to stay in Dumaguete City, where prices range from Php600-2000. Personally we prefer a place with a beach view and swimming pool for the same price:)
Come on over we promise cold beer, good food and good times:D
